Default New to the Expansion

Hey guys, i just recently bought the trilogy pack and i am going through the night fall campaign. I searched the forums for a couple of builds, but most seemed to be different, or out of date. This is what i'm currently using

1.Lyssa's Aura
2.Arcane Echo
3.Cry of Pain
4.Frustration
5.Glyph of Lesser Energy
6.Conjure Phantasm
7.Clumsiness
8.Res Sig

Any help would be awesome. Feel free to tear it apart and make me look like an idiot. I also need some advice on attributes. Post any skill changes you feel need be.
Thank you.

Echo > Arcane Echo > Cry of Pain > Echo (arcane echo) > CoP (echo) = 3 CoP which is pure ownage! The rest can be random skills. xP just an idea for some major spike.

You can put skills into square brackets to show an icon, eg: [text] becomes [lyssa's aura]

The build has AoE shutdown, ([clumsiness]), lots of damage [Cry of Pain] x 2, as well as a res, but you don't need glyph of lesser energy if you have an elite energy management skill, as well as single target damage (conjure phantasm).

Before building a character around this idea, consider that the cost of this chain will be 20 energy (15 for Arcane Echo and 5 for Echo) plus three to four times the cost of the spell. For a spell that costs 5 energy, the total string will cost 35 to 40 energy. For a spell that costs 15 energy, the chain would be prohibitive at 65 to 80 energy. Using spells that cost 25 energy will be practically impossible in most builds without a very specialized build or precise teamwork.

So seeing how CoP is a 15E spell if I remember correctly, he's going to need some sort of energy management. I would suggest a BiP.

EDIT: I'm an idiot, he's using Lyssa's Aura... Don't listen to me! =P

Thanks for all the help guys.
Is [Glyph of lesser Energy] really needed? And why take [Conjure Phantasm] out, is the single target degen that bad? sometimes the mobs tend to spread out and the aoe isnt really there. At least that's how it is right now

[[Glyph of Lesser Energy] is for when you're low on energy. [[Ether Nightmare] is a better degen spell than [[Conjure Phantasm]. "In the area" is a big range and it still works well even against one foe.

Yes, degen is very bad in PvE. It does very mediocre damage.

But you do have the right idea going. I'd swap Lyssa's Aura for something different as well, as it's kind of poor for energy management IMO. Something non-elite could do better

Here's what I use:

[Assasins Promise Mesmer;OQdTAwR6ZaBaXkF0mMDaEqHQAAA]

Although I usually swap ether nightmare out for pain inverter. It works best when you use the 3 discord necro heroes, if you want a link to that I could probably find one somewhere or just give you my template codes.

I forget, does the trilogy pack include EOTN?

I reckon it'll work better if you swapped it out for [Finish Him] instead. No need for a reactive hex if you can kill the enemy before he gets off his painful skills.

Yeah, I'm running an AP mesmer build right now too:

[build=OQdUA4QNSPSiO7iLQTA2g9AxkEBA]

I think the Ebon sin bitch is a must for these builds. I tried doing the [finish him]/[epidemic] combo but the foe most of the time gets insta-gibbed before the second spell gets cast.

is the AP build better than lyssas, or is it a matter of preference really?
Also, with the new cop buff, are mesmers starting to hold there own a little more in pve?

its not that Ap is better. Ap is better for that specific bar, because the ebon sin doles out great one-enemy damage, and hexed with Ap allows you to start the chain over again.

I've seen /E used for Glyph of Renewal as well. Not as powerful as Assassin's Promise, but more reliable (you're not relying on the presence of easily-killed foes or on a hex not being stripped) and both more versatile and, when used with high recharge skills, more powerful than Echo.

I like [Arcane Conundrum] since I run solo alot it is me hitting the group 1st so why not slow down the mobs casting right off the bat?

Just thought i would mention it works well as a primer for COP

I think it works great in general. Let them waste their time casting away. Plus think of [Warmonger's Weapon] or [Wailing Weapon].
